OPTIONS FOR THOSE WITH THORACIC OUTLET SYNDROME

November 26, 2013

thoracicThoracic outlet syndrome (TOS) happens when the bundle of nerves and blood vessels that passes through the neck and collarbone gets pinched between to muscle groups in the shoulder. This can manifest in minor discomfort or excruciating pain, usually centered around the limbs that the nerve and blood vessel bundle feeds into.

Sometimes it can only be felt as a bit of numbness in the pinky and ring fingers, or an ache in the upper or lower arm, shoulder, or neck, sometimes even the back. Tingling and discoloration can occur too.

Moderate to extreme cases of TOS can seriously affect the patient’s quality of life, as it certainly limits the activities that one can engage in. Signing up for a gym membership, of joining a martial arts class, for example, must be carefully weighted and considered. A lot of women decide to forego having children as they fear that pregnancy might aggravate symptoms. And not only that, but the physicality of taking care of a baby and rearing a child may be too much for a body that suffers from thoracic outlet syndrome.

For those who suffer severely, only surgery can offer relief. For mild to moderate cases, some physical therapy is sufficient to address the symptoms. Physiotherapy treatments usually involve improving the posture, so that the least possible pressure is exerted on the neurovascular bundle. When patients learn to open up their chests when they’re walking and during their everyday activities, it loosens up the muscles in the neck and shoulder and minimizes the pinch that it makes on the nerves. Exercises that stretch out the nerves that run from the neck to the hand help a lot too.

If you live in Chicago, you can make a consultation at Piano Vein & Vascular to learn about treatment options.

STRESS RELIEF

stressThe best vein treatment you can give yourself is to simply not get stressed. When you’re stressed and tense, your veins and blood vessels get tense too, constricting and narrowing and ultimately causing you to have high blood pressure, not to mention one of the many types of anxiety disorders. All it takes is to breathe deeply and retreat into your mind for a few seconds. Notice how your breath shortens when you’re worried, and your body starts to wind up and coil around itself like a spring? You can get some much needed relief and release when you close your eyes and breathe in and breathe out, slowly. Concentrate on the air coming in and out of your lungs. Pretend that you’re breathing in bright, warm light and life when you inhale, and with every exhale, see in your mind that you are expelling all the darkness and negative emotions within you. Let go of your burdens and just be. Just breathe. Appreciate the beauty and calm that Southfield seems to have in abundance.

Another way you can help your cardiovascular system is to eat right and exercise regularly. A healthy and balanced diet with lots of vegetables and right fats in the right amounts will ensure that your arteries are free of clogs that could hinder efficient blood flow. Exercising, on the other hand, gets your heart working, which strengthens the cardiac muscles, and gets the blood pumping which allows it to circulate better, bringing much needed nutrients to the cells and bringing out excess water and other waste products. It doesn’t hurt that physical activity releases feel-good endorphins that help you relax and breathe easier.

UltraschalluntersuchungWhen it comes to your health smart choices have to be made. This includes a yearly visit to your doctor and in particular an obstetrician. This professional will advise you on matters that are in relation to your health in a general perspective. He or she will let you know the best times to have screening, testing procedures and diagnosis to assist in the maintenance of a healthy body. You can ask your gynecologist to be your obgyn just in case you are in need of one.

All women should visit their doctors once a year but the sad truth is that there is a misconception about the whole process. Most people are misinformed when it comes to the examinations and the options that are availed for management of particular conditions. A professional usually takes their time to assess your needs and they will provide a comfortable space for the discussion of your needs.

The visit usually focuses on the sexual health of a woman. A routine Pap smear test and a pelvic exam are performed and these appointments are relatively quick. A detailed discussion of these procedures is done by the professional and the procedures tend to have little or no discomfort for the patient. The purpose of these tests is to screen for cancers and to implement treatment at the earliest stage possible.

During the first visit your doctor may ask questions about you and about your family. Do not be offended as some of the questions might seem very personal. Your doctor needs to ask these questions so that he or she can better understand how to care for you and to keep you healthy. Giving honest answers to these questions is the key to your proper care.

It is important to know that whatever is discussed in your doctor’s office will remain confidential. A lot of young women are afraid that whatever they tell their doctor, the doctor will most likely tell their parents. If this is a concern then discuss it with your doctor before answering any questions.

Concerns about your period, weight, birth control or just anything that has its roots in sexuality can be discussed by a professional. A person who is competent will listen to your issues and they will be able to help you so that you can deal with these issues easily. Look for a doctor who is a very good listener to get the most efficient services.

You have to visit a professional if you are pregnant or if you see any signs of infection in the vaginal region. The symptoms might include pain, burning, itching or signs of blood. These need to be attended to by the professional in an efficient manner. Sever pain in the abdomen should be attended to immediately as it shows an indication of a severe problem.

If you have missed your period, you are on the pill or you just need a physical exam, it is very crucial that you make an appointment with an obgyn in phoenix. Making that first appointment might not be easy but it is the first step towards better health. Also remember to ask as many questions as possible to get the most effective treatment.

Get the Best Looks, Even with Thin Hair

Thinning hair should not stop you from looking stylish. That is why we want to talk about some of the best hairstyles for thinning hair. Although there are many hairstyles out there, you may want to change up your look, from time to time, and we have a few great tips on how to make thin hair look thicker, even if it is in appearance only. Read on to learn more about the best hairstyles for thinning hair.

Best Hairstyles for Thinning Hair

There are several hairstyles out there for thinning hair. Many of them may rely on side-parts, lightly razored edges, clarifying shampoos designed for thinning hair, and more. You can find all the hairstyles that we talk about here in a variety of styles, lengths, and more. What is best of all is that many of these hairstyles are very popular right now, even with celebrities and more. Be sure to ask your stylist about other ways you can pump up your thinning locks. Not only can you learn how to make thin hair look thicker from them, but they may also have some great styling trick up their sleeve for your particular hair style, length, texture, and more.

Curls

Curls are fantastic because they add volume and lift to hair, making it appear fuller and thicker than it may actually be. This is one of the most versatile of hairstyles for thinning hair because curls can be used in any hairstyle, with any length hair, or on any cut to give it a fuller, more luscious appearance. Feel free to even experiment with curling irons, diffusers, or more yourself before you consider any drastic change to your hair (like a permanent) that always gives you curls. You may find that you only want curls some days, and on others you prefer your natural hair.

Bobs

Bobs and lobs (long bobs) are all the rage right now. This is in-part thanks to the many movies and television shows that are set in the 1920s era. Bobs look classic on nearly any shape of face, and work with nearly any kind of hair. You can even create a faux bob by using bobby pins to pin your hair up in the back. Bobs allow for more natural movement of hair, which, in turn, makes your hair appear fuller and thicker. You can even combine a bob with curls for an even greater boost in volume.

My Personal Training Journey

personaltrainingI decided to get personal training in my local area of Irvine. I decided to do this because I think it was time to start taking my weight loss seriously and I wasn’t making progress on my own. Although personal training does cost more than just a regular gym pass, I think it’s definitely worth it because it almost guarantees results. I found an excellent fitness center in Irvine called Next Level Fitness. They’ve been around for more than 10 years and they have some of the best trainers in Orange County.

My goal with my new personal trainer is to lose 20 lbs in the next two months, so 10 lbs a month. Not only will my personal trainer keep me motivated and show me the correct exercises to do, but also push me while I’m doing each exercise to make sure I do them completely. There are a lot of workout machines at the gym that I have no idea how to use and my trainer is definitely going to help me learn how to use them and which ones are the best ones to use. Of course he will also show me floor exercises and body exercises that don’t require any weights or machines. I’m really excited to learn these ones in particular because I’ll be able to do these at home also.

Additionally, he’s going to give me a meal plan so that I can make sure I eat healthy when I’m at home and when I’m at work. According to many resources on health and fitness, nutrition and diet is the most important factor to lose weight.

So why did I pick Next Level Fitness? I chose them, because they offered top of the line personal training in Irvine according to a recommendation from a really close friend who has been training there for six months. She said she really liked the facility and her trainer. She said she would definitely recommend that I go there, too. My friend is really into fitness and working out and she said that her trainer is the best trainer that she has ever had and went on and on about this place. How could I say no?

I am really excited to get started working out and beginning a new lifestyle. Being fit and healthy has a really big impact on your life more than just the way you look, but also the way you feel. When you work out a lot and exercise a lot you really feel great on the inside and have more energy levels throughout the day. I can’t wait to see the effect it has on me throughout my full working day and my energy level at night so that I can go out more. Not only that but I think it’s going to be really great for my health, too. Getting exercise, and especially with a personal trainer, will really make a difference in the long run for my health. Continuous exercise has proven to show a decrease in cholesterol levels, chance of getting diabetes, improved cardiovascular health, and obviously decrease risk of obesity (which I’m definitely trying to move awake from!). I can’t wait to get started and share my results with all of you.
